Of all the patients we’ve taken care of over the years, headaches have been one of the top complaints.

Statistically, nearly 37 million people in the U.S. suffer from severe headaches, 5 million on a daily basis. Those who suffer from severe headaches consume nearly two times the amount of prescription medication as those who have no headaches. Still, nearly one-third of them claim severe disability, which explains why headaches are a common cause of missed work in our country.

In a recent study published in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics, severe headache sufferers in control groups receiving chiropractic care showed significant improvement in the frequency, severity, and duration of headaches. There was also a significant reduction in the number of medications consumed. This study mirrors results obtained in our office, as well. Our approach is to find any areas of the spine — typically in the neck and upper back region — where the bones have misaligned to the degree that nerves have become irritated and are not allowing the brain and body to communicate clearly.

When utilizing gentle adjusting techniques, the motion to this vertebra is restored, which allows the pressure to come off the nerves, thereby, allowing clear communication from the brain to the body, followed by a reduction in symptoms. This means a higher quality of life and less dependency on medication to get through the day.
